Family Guardian

حارس العائلة

Protect your children on Android phones, with clear rules the child can see, and no spying.

Version 0.2.0, released 2026-10-10. For Android 8 and newer. The apps are in Arabic.

How it works

Install the parent app and sign in with your email

You get a six-digit code. There is no password.

Install the child app on the child's phone

Type the child's name and a six-digit pairing code appears, valid for ten minutes.

Type the pairing code in your app

Then turn on the permissions the child app asks for, and set the rules that suit your family.

What it does

Screen time

A daily limit for school days and another for weekends, limits per app, bedtime and study time.

Prayer-time lock

The phone pauses from each call to prayer for as long as you choose, with times worked out on the child's phone for their city.

Lock now

One tap locks the child's phone for dinner or family time.

Safe browsing

Blocks adult and harmful sites, forces safe search, and YouTube's restricted mode.

Apps

Block particular apps, and approve any new app the child installs.

Safety and location

An emergency button for the child, their location on a map when needed, and alerts on arriving home or at school.

Rewards

Tasks that earn the child extra minutes, and requests for more time you answer with one tap.

Reports

Daily screen time, the most used apps, and weekly and monthly reports.

Protection without spying

  • The app never reads messages, screen content, or what the child types.
  • Every rule is visible to the child in their app. Nothing is hidden.
  • Location, call log and browsing history stay off until you turn them on, and the child sees when they are on.
  • Logs are kept for a few days only, and erased when turned off or when the phones are unlinked.

How to install

The apps are not on Google Play yet, so they install straight from the file:
  1. Tap the right download button at the top of the page.
  2. Open the file once it has downloaded.
  3. If the phone asks to allow installs from this source, allow it in settings, then go back.
  4. If Google Play Protect shows a warning, choose to install anyway. It appears because the app asks for protection permissions, which it needs to work.
